The official matriculation of new students in our institute and the solemn
inauguration of the 2010/2011 academic session took place on the 6th of November 2010. Fourty-three students were admitted. They comprised of students from diverse nationalities, multi-cultural groups and varied religious orders. They were Spiritans, Claretians, Somascans, Missionaries of Divine Mercy and Holy Ghost Sisters.
The event began with a solemn liturgical celebration. The Chief Celebrant, Most Rev. Dr. Charles Hammawa, bishop of Jalingo diocese, in his homily, encouraged the matriculating students and entire students to make a judicious use of every opportunity available in order to store enough to be used in future. He likened the seminary formation to the transmutation process of an alchemist who specialises in transmutation of common metals into gold. Like an alchemist’s laboratory, the seminary is a place where seminarians undergo transmutation to become the finest gold. He thus encouraged students to avail themselves the opportunity of becoming the best the institution wants them to be.
After the celebration of the Holy Mass, the matriculating students and members
of the academic staff processed to the school auditorium where the official matriculation took place. This was followed by a novelty football match between the new students and the older students. The older students maintain the tradition by defeating the new students by 4 goals to 1.
SIST welcomes its new students and wishes them a happy stay, best study and fruitful formation.
