In his homily, the Archbishop remarked that we Christians especially the Catholics in Nigeria are inheritors of many great traditions, the tradition that have come to us from Abraham, through Moses and the prophets to Jesus Christ and his apostles and later – the missionaries. We are then called to gratitude and challenged to bear good fruits. He prayed that the fruits of this symposium will enrich the church greatly and the world at large.
At the end of the Holy Mass, the symposium properly began at the school auditorium. The key note address, titled: Chi and Christ in Igbo Salvation Experience – An Explication, was given by Most Rev. After the break for launch, the symposium continued. Two key papers were presented namely: Chukwu and Yahweh: The Problem of Translating the Word of God in Language by Rev. Fr. Raymond Arazu C.S.Sp and Naming the Ultimate in African Traditional Religion: A Historical Perspective by Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Ekwunife C.S.Sp.
The night session started shortly after the super. This session was defined by three voluntary papers. These include: What Makes God God? (Sr. Dr. Mary Sylvia Nwachukwu, DDL), The Word Became Flesh and Dwelt Among Us{John 1:14}: The Uniqueness of a Christian God who Revealed Himself in History (Fr. Dr. Cosmos Uzowulu) and God as Our Environment, In Search of a Christian Environment Ethics. ( Fr. Dr. Nicholas Mbogu).
